Palmyra’s history is not only tied to the flowing of the Erie Canal, but also to the flowing of beer. Almost since the beginning of our little village’s history, there have been breweries. Throughout the 19th century, the brewery owned by Robert McKechnie, and then his brothers, produced popular, flavorful beers. From Barton’s Beer to Palmyra Ale, beer from Palmyra was famous in our little corner of New York. Not only did the village of Palmyra have two breweries, but we had two distilleries and five Malt Houses as well. You could say that Palmyra's history is soaked in beer.
Drumlins Brewing Company, to be located at 235 E. Main Street in Palmyra, wants to bring that history into the modern age with a small craft brewery specializing in using local ingredients to bring a Palmyra spin to not only popular styles like Ambers, Stouts, and IPAs, but also more unique styles such fruited sours, seltzers, and gluten-free beers. Drumlins Brewing Company would be the first brewery in Palmyra since before Prohibition.
Our rotating menu of brews will be available to enjoy in our taproom or Phase 2 – out in our Biergarten, as well as packaged to go. We will also be strategically placing our beers as guest taps in select local restaurants and other craft breweries.
While we do not plan to have a full-service kitchen, we will offer a selection of snacks or light meals, ranging from Bavarian Style Pretzels and Pretzel Dogs to Charcuterie, and sweet pastries all sourced from local bakeries and farms. In addition, we plan to host events with food trucks, BBQs, and other pop-ups on weekends.
